Italy

Officially the Italian Republic is a founding member of the European Union - EU (25th of March 1957), although no referendum was held.
Italy plays a prominent role in European and global military, cultural and diplomatic affairs. It is also considered to be a major regional power. Italy is a member of numerous other international institutions, including, NATO, the UN, the OECD, the OSCE, the DAC, the WTO, the G6, G7, G8, G10, G20, the Union for the Mediterranean, the Latin Union, the Council of Europe, the Central European Initiative, the ASEM, the Uniting for Consensus. And is part of the Eurozone and Schengen Area.
